Be used to používame

Ak used to označuje pravidelné činnosti v minulosti, ktoré sa už skončili, potom sa konštrukcia be used to používa pre súčasné návyky.
Vyjadruje činnosť alebo situáciu, ktorá sa považuje za normálnu a človeku známu.

Konštrukciu možno použiť v prítomnom, minulom aj budúcom čase:
am / is / are used to, was / were used to, will be used to.

She is used to getting up early.
Je zvyknutá vstávať skoro.
He said he was used to the long working hours.
Povedal, že bol zvyknutý na dlhé pracovné hodiny.
At first I wasn’t comfortable, but soon I was used to speaking in meetings.
Najprv som sa necítil pohodlne, ale čoskoro som si zvykol hovoriť na stretnutiach.
After a few months, you will be used to speaking English every day.
Po niekoľkých mesiacoch si zvyknete hovoriť po anglicky každý deň.

Všeobecná štruktúra vety s be used to:
po tvare slovesa be používame used to,
po ktorom nasleduje gerundium (sloveso končiace na -ing) alebo podstatné meno.

She is used to studying at night.
Je zvyknutá študovať v noci.
They are used to the new rules.
Sú zvyknutí na nové pravidlá.

Be used to Pravidlo

  • Po used to v tejto konštrukcii vždy používame podstatné meno alebo sloveso zakončené na -ing, nie infinitív.
    ❌ She is used to study at night.
    ✅ She is used to studying at night.
  • Be used to opisuje stav (výsledok toho, že si človek zvykol), nie samotný proces.
    Proces sa vyjadruje konštrukciou get used to.
    I am used to the schedule now.
    Teraz som si už zvykol na tento rozvrh.
    I am getting used to the schedule.
    Zvykám si na rozvrh.
  • Často sa používa na vyjadrenie kontrastu: spočiatku bolo niečo ťažké alebo neznáme, ale teraz sa to zdá normálne. V takýchto vetách často vidíte slová ako spočiatku, teraz, už a podobné výrazy.
    At first the job was stressful, but now I am used to it.
    Najprv bola tá práca stresujúca, ale teraz som si na ňu zvykol.

Be used to Negácia

Ak chceme povedať, že niekto nie je zvyknutý na niečo, pridáme negáciu not k tvaru slovesa be: am not / isn’t / aren’t / wasn’t / weren’t used to.

Nie je zvyknutý vstávať skoro.
I am not used to this noise.
Nie som zvyknutý na tento hluk.
They weren’t used to working remotely.
Neboli zvyknutí pracovať na diaľku.

V otázkach používame obvyklú inverziu so slovesom byť:
tvar am / is / are / was / were stojí pred podmetom.
Zvyšok konštrukcie (used to + gerundium / podstatné meno) zostáva nezmenený.

Ste pracovne zvyknutí pracovať z domu?

V Wh-otázkach pridávame opytovacie slovo (what, where, why, how, who atď.) pred sloveso be. Zvyšok štruktúry zostáva rovnaký.
