First Conditional utilisons

On l'utilise pour parler d'une situation réelle dans le futur : si la condition se réalise, alors le résultat suivra.

First Conditional Forme

if-part (Conditional)	main part Result
if + subject + Present Simple	subject + Future Simple

If + subject + Present Simple, subject + will + V.
Subject + will + V + if + subject + Present Simple.

If it rains, I will stay at home.
S'il pleut, je resterai à la maison.

First Conditional Règle

L’ordre des parties n’a pas d’importance.

If the weather doesn’t improve, we’ll stay at home.

We’ll stay at home if the weather doesn’t improve.
Si la proposition conditionnelle vient en premier, on met une virgule après.

If you study, you will pass.

You will pass if you study.
Dans la proposition principale, le verbe « will » peut être remplacé par des verbes modaux : can, might, may, should, must или be going to
If we hurry up, we can catch the last train.
Si nous nous dépêchons, nous pouvons attraper le dernier train.

If we call a taxi, we might get there sooner.
Si nous appelons un taxi, nous pourrions arriver plus tôt.

If you finish the report today, we may send it to the client tomorrow.
Si vous terminez le rapport aujourd’hui, nous pourrons l’envoyer au client demain.

If you feel tired, you should take a short break.
Si vous vous sentez fatigué, vous devriez faire une courte pause.

If you want to enter the lab, you must wear protective glasses.
Si vous voulez entrer dans le laboratoire, vous devez porter des lunettes de protection.

First Conditional Négation

dans la proposition conditionnelle (après if) — nous utilisons Present Simple + don't / doesn't
If you don’t hurry, we’ll be late.
Si tu ne te dépêches pas, nous serons en retard.
dans la proposition principale — on ajoute simplement la négation à will ou au verbe modal
If it rains, we won’t go outside.
S'il pleut, nous ne sortirons pas.

If you study hard, you might not fail the test.
Si tu étudies bien, tu pourrais ne pas rater le test.

First Conditional Questions

La question se forme comme une question normale au futur, seule la proposition avec if reste.

Will + subject + V1 + if + Present Simple?
Wh-word + will + subject + V1 + if + Present Simple?

Will you stay at home if it rains?
Resterez-vous à la maison s’il pleut ?

What will you do if the app doesn’t load?
Que ferez-vous si l’application ne se charge pas ?

Where will you go if the weather is nice tomorrow?
Où iras-tu si le temps est beau demain ?

Who will you invite if you organize a party this weekend?
Qui inviteras-tu si tu organises une fête ce week-end ?

When will you start working on it if they approve the plan?
Quand commencerez-vous à travailler dessus s’ils approuvent le plan ?

Why will she be upset if you don’t call her back?
Pourquoi sera-t-elle contrariée si tu ne la rappelles pas ?

Which project will you choose if they give you multiple options?
Quel projet choisiras-tu s’ils te donnent plusieurs options ?

How will you feel if the test goes better than expected?
Comment vous sentirez-vous si le test se passe mieux que prévu ?

First Conditional Erreurs courantes

❌ If it will rain, we will cancel.
