Singular and Plural Nouns usamos

Singular es la forma de un sustantivo cuando hablamos de una persona, cosa o idea: un libro, una manzana.
Plural es la forma que usamos cuando hay dos o más: libros, manzanas.
Este tema te ayuda a usar la forma correcta del sustantivo, elegir palabras como un/una, formar plurales y hacer concordar palabras como este / ese / estos / esos, eso / ellos y es / son.

Singular and Plural Nouns Forma

La mayoría de los sustantivos contables tienen una forma singular y una forma plural. Un sustantivo contable singular normalmente no puede aparecer solo sin una palabra delante: a menudo es a/an, pero también puede ser the, this, that, my y palabras similares. La forma plural normalmente se forma con -s o -es, pero algunos sustantivos tienen plurales irregulares.

Singular: a pen, an apple, this book, that phone, my bag, it is ...
Plural: pens, apples, these books, those phones, my bags, they are ...

Singular and Plural Nouns Regla

  • Un sustantivo contable singular normalmente necesita una palabra delante. A menudo es a/an, pero también puede ser the, this, that, my y palabras similares. Normalmente usamos a antes de un sonido consonántico y an antes de un sonido vocálico.

  • Para hacer un sustantivo plural, normalmente añadimos -s.

  • Si un sustantivo termina en -ch, -sh, -s, -ss, -x, normalmente añadimos -es.
    ✅ watch → watches
    ✅ dish → dishes
    ✅ bus → buses
    ✅ box → boxes
  • Si un sustantivo termina en consonante + y, la y normalmente cambia a ies. Si hay una vocal antes de la y, normalmente solo añadimos -s.

  • Algunos sustantivos que terminan en -f o -fe forman el plural con -ves.
    ✅ leaf → leaves

  • Usamos this / that con sustantivos singulares y these / those con sustantivos plurales. El verbo también debe concordar: is con singular y are con plural.

  • Algunos sustantivos tienen una forma plural irregular, así que necesitas aprenderlas.
