Singular and Plural Nouns koristimo

Једнина је облик именице када говоримо о једној особи, ствари или идеји: књига, јабука.
Множина је облик који користимо када их има две или више: књиге, јабуке.

Singular and Plural Nouns Форма

Većina brojivih imenica ima jedninu i množinu. Brojiva imenica u jednini obično ne može stajati sama bez reči ispred sebe: to je često a/an, ali može biti i the, this, that, my i slične reči. Oblik množine se obično gradi nastavkom -s ili -es, ali neke imenice imaju nepravilnu množinu.

Singular: a pen, an apple, this book, that phone, my bag, it is ...
Plural: pens, apples, these books, those phones, my bags, they are ...

Singular and Plural Nouns Правило

  • Једнина бројиве именице обично захтева реч испред себе. То је често a/an, али може бити и the, this, that, my и сличне речи. Обично користимо a испред сугласничког гласа, а an испред самогласничког гласа.

  • Да бисмо именицу направили у множини, обично додајемо -s.
    ✅ book → books
    ✅ dog → dogs

  • Ako se imenica završava na -ch, -sh, -s, -ss, -x, obično dodajemo -es.
    ✅ watch → watches
    ✅ dish → dishes
    ✅ bus → buses
    ✅ box → boxes
  • Ако се именица завршава на сугласник + y, y се обично мења у ies. Ако се испред y налази самогласник, обично само додајемо -s.

  • Neke imenice koje se završavaju na -f ili -fe grade množinu nastavkom -ves.
    ✅ leaf → leaves
    ✅ wife → wives
    ✅ knife → knives
  • Користимо this / that уз једнину, а these / those уз множину. И глагол мора да се слаже: is уз једнину, а are уз множину.

  • Neke imenice imaju nepravilni oblik množine, pa ih morate naučiti.
