Brojive imenice su imenice koje možemo brojati jednu po jednu: jedna jabuka, dve knjige. Nebrojive imenice su imenice koje se obično posmatraju kao masa, supstanca, materijal, apstraktna ideja ili kolektivna celina: voda, pirinač, nameštaj, informacija, savet. Ova tema vam pomaže da izaberete pravilne a/an, the, some, any, many, much, a few, a little i odgovarajući oblik glagola.

I have an apple and some cheese.

Countable and Uncountable Nouns Форма

Brojive imenice imaju jedninu i množinu. Nebrojive imenice obično nemaju oblik množine, ne upotrebljavaju se sa a/an i obično zahtevaju glagol u jednini.

Countable: a book → books / an apple → apples
Uncountable: milk, rice, money, information, furniture, advice

  • Пре бројиве именице у једнини, обично нам је потребан детерминатор: на пример, члан (a/an/the), присвојна заменица (my, your, his, her, our, their), показна заменица (this, that) или неки други детерминатор.
    ✅ I need a chair.
    The chair by the window is broken.
    My phone is in the bag.
    ❌ I need chair.
  • Sa imenicama u množini i nebrojivim imenicama ne koristimo a/an. Kada govorimo uopšteno, imenica se često koristi bez člana. Kada mislimo na nešto određeno, često koristimo the.
    Cars are expensive. (= cars in general)
    The cars outside are ours. (= specific cars)
    ✅ I drink coffee. (= coffee in general)
    The coffee on the table is cold. (= specific coffee)
  • Обично не користимо a/an са небројивим именицама. Оне обично иду уз глагол у једнини.

  • Some se obično koristi u potvrdnim rečenicama, a any je češći u pitanjima i odričnim rečenicama. Ali možemo koristiti i some u pitanjima kada nudimo, tražimo nešto ili očekujemo odgovor „da”.
    ✅ I bought some apples.
    ✅ We need some sugar.
    ✅ Do you have any apples?
    ✅ Is there any sugar?

  • Користите many / a few / few са бројивим именицама, а much / a little / little са небројивим именицама. У обичним потврдним реченицама, a lot of / lots of је често природније од many / much.

    ✅ I have few ideas. (= not many, not enough)
    ✅ There isn’t much time.

  • Neke imenice mogu biti i brojive i nebrojive. Značenje se menja u zavisnosti od konteksta.

  • Neke imenice izgledaju kao množinske imenice i obično se koriste samo u tom obliku: pantalone, makaze, naočare, dvogled. Da bismo ih brojili, često koristimo izraz par.
