Форма залежить від того, чи говоримо ми про одну річ / незлічуваний іменник, чи про більше ніж одну річ.

У холодильнику є трохи молока.

There is вживається з іменником в однині, а there are — з іменником у множині.

З незлічуваними іменниками ми зазвичай вживаємо there is.
There is enough time.
Часу достатньо.

There is some information in the email.
У листі є деяка інформація.
Після конструкції ми часто додаємо місце або іншу деталь: на столі, у кімнаті, у школі.

У стверджувальних реченнях ми часто вживаємо some, а в запитаннях і запереченнях ми часто вживаємо any.

У розмовній англійській there is часто скорочують до there’s. Для there are зазвичай надають перевагу повній формі.

Якщо перелік іде після конструкції, дієслово часто узгоджується з першим іменником у переліку.

Заперечення утворюється за допомогою not: there is not / there isn’t та there are not / there aren’t.
