There is / There are este folosit pentru a spune că ceva există, este prezent sau se află undeva. Această structură ajută la introducerea unei persoane, a unui lucru sau a unui obiect în conversație.

There is / There are Formă

Forma depinde de faptul dacă vorbim despre un singur lucru / un substantiv nenumărabil sau despre mai mult de un lucru.

There are + plural noun

There is a problem with the printer.

There is se folosește cu un substantiv la singular, iar there are se folosește cu un substantiv la plural.

Cu substantivele necontabile, folosim de obicei there is.

Este suficient timp.

Există câteva informații în e-mail.
După structură, adăugăm adesea un loc sau alt detaliu: pe masă, în cameră, la școală.

În engleza vorbită, there is este adesea prescurtat în there’s. Pentru there are, de obicei este preferată forma completă.

Dacă o listă urmează după structură, verbul se acordă adesea cu primul substantiv din listă.

Negația se formează cu not: there is not / there isn’t și there are not / there aren’t.

There are not + plural noun
