There is / There are Когда используем

There is / There are используется, когда мы говорим, что что-то существует, находится или имеется где-то. Эта конструкция помогает ввести новый предмет, человека или объект в разговор.

There is a book on the table.
На столе лежит книга.

There are two students in the classroom.
В классе находятся два ученика.

There is / There are Форма

Форма зависит от того, говорим ли мы об одном предмете / неисчисляемом существительном или о нескольких предметах.

There are + plural noun

There is a problem with the printer.
Есть проблема с принтером.

There is some milk in the fridge.
В холодильнике есть немного молока.

There are three chairs in the room.

There is / There are Правило

There is используется с единственным числом, а there are — с множественным.

✅ There is a lamp near the bed.

✅ There are two lamps near the bed.
С неисчисляемыми существительными обычно используется there is.
There is enough time.
Времени достаточно.

There is some information in the email.
В письме есть некоторая информация.
После конструкции обычно указывается место или уточнение: on the table, in the room, at school.
There is a cat under the chair.
Под стулом есть кошка.

There are many people at the bus stop.
На автобусной остановке много людей.
В утверждениях часто используется some, а в вопросах и отрицаниях — any.

✅ There aren’t any cookies in the box.
В разговорной речи форма there is часто сокращается до there’s. Для there are обычно используют полную форму.

Если после конструкции идёт список, глагол часто согласуется с первым существительным в списке.

Отрицание образуется с помощью not: there is not / there isn’t и there are not / there aren’t.
