Используем для пересказа чужих слов с изменением формы, чтобы они стали частью вашего текста, а не прямой цитатой.
Меняем прямую речь на косвенную.
Reported speech Форма
Subject + reporting V, that subject + V (со сдвигом времени при необходимости)
“I am tired”, she said.
She said that she was tired.
Reported speech Правило
Косвенная речь в английском языке кавычками не выделяется, в отличие от прямой речи:George said, “I am ready to dance with you.”
George said (that) he was ready to dance with me.

Когда действие актуально на момент речи.
Если утверждение всё ещё верно сейчас.I live in Paris. She said she lives in Paris. (потому что она всё ещё там живёт) -
Если придаточное предложение в Past Continuous, то в разговорной речи время глагола может не меняться.
He said, “I was playing football when she called me.”.
Он сказал: «Я играл в футбол, когда она мне позвонила». He said that he was playing football when she called him.
Он сказал, что играл в футбол, когда она ему позвонила. -
Если глагол сообщения в настоящем
При says, tells, has said сдвига времени нет.I’m busy. She says she is busy

Глаголы, после которых идёт that-clause
:
say, tell, add, explain, mention, reply, answer, admit, agree, deny, promise…I’m tired. She said that she was tired. -
Глаголы, после которых идёт to-infinitive:
advise, ask, tell, order, persuade, remind, warn, invite, encourage…Don’t be late. He told me to not be late.
Reported speech Отрицание

Добавляем / сохраняем not перед смысловым глаголом
I don’t like it. She said she didn’t like it.

Если отрицание с not у модального — меняем модальный + добавляем not
I can’t help you. He said he couldn’t help me.

Если not относится к смыслу, а не грамматике — сохраняем его
Don’t worry. He told me not to worry.

Общие вопросы в косвенной речи присоединяются к главному предложению при помощи союзов
if или whether.
Порядок слов вопросительного предложения меняется на порядок слов повествовательного предложения.

If используется в обычных Yes/No вопросах, когда просто нужно узнать «да или нет».
Do you like it? He asked if I liked it.

Whether используется, если в вопросе есть альтернатива/выбор
Do you want tea or coffee? He asked whether I wanted tea or coffee.

Вопросы с вопросительным словом (wh-questions)
Reporting verb + wh-word + прямой порядок слов (без инверсии)

He asked why I had left early.“How can we solve this?” they asked. They asked how they could solve it.“When will you call me?” she asked. She asked when I would call her. -

Reporting verb + if/whether + прямой порядок слов

Утверждение: reporting verb + object + to + verb
Open the door.
He told me to open the door.
Запрет: reporting verb + object + not to + verb
Don’t be late.
She told me not to be late.

Не заменять местоимения
❌ She said I am tired.
✔️ She said she was tired. Местоимения всегда подстраиваются под новый контекст.
