Second Conditional Regel

  • Ordningen på delarna spelar ingen roll.
    If the weather didn’t improve, we would stay at home.
    We would stay at home if the weather didn’t improve.
  • Om den villkorliga delen står först, sätter vi ett kommatecken efter den.
    If you studied, you would pass.
    You would pass if you studied.
  • i villkorssatser använder vi were istället för was med I / he / she / it
    If I were you, I would change jobs.
    Om jag vore du skulle jag byta jobb.
    If he were taller, he would play basketball professionally.
    Om han vore längre skulle han spela basket på professionell nivå.
    If she were more patient, she would enjoy teaching.
    Om hon vore mer tålmodig skulle hon tycka om att undervisa.

  • vi kan använda modala verb istället för would: could, might, should
    If you studied more, you could pass the exam.

  • konjunktionen unless = if not
    We wouldn’t go unless it were necessary.

Second Conditional Negation

  • i den villkorliga delen: Past Simple + didn't + V
    If he didn't call, I would stay at home.
    Om han inte ringde, skulle jag stanna hemma.
  • i huvudsatsen: wouldn't + V eller negationen av ett modalverb
    If it rained, we wouldn't go outside.
    Om det regnade skulle vi inte gå ut.
    If you tried more, you might not fail.

Second Conditional Frågor

Frågan bildas som en vanlig fråga med would, endast bisatsen med if finns kvar.
