Third Conditional uporabljamo

Govorimo o neresnični preteklosti: pogoj se ni zgodil, a opisujemo namišljen rezultat.

Third Conditional Oblika

if-part (Conditional)	main part Result

If + subject + Past Perfect, subject + would have + V3.
Subject + would have + V3 + if + subject + Past Perfect.

If it had rained, I would have stayed at home.
Če bi deževalo, bi ostal doma.

Vrstni red delov ni pomemben.

If you had studied, you would have passed.

You would have passed if you had studied.
Če je pogojni del na prvem mestu, za njim postavimo vejico.

If you had studied, you would have passed.

You would have passed if you had studied.
namesto would have lahko uporabimo modalne glagole: could have, might have, should have
If it had been late, we might have taken a taxi.
Če bi bilo pozno, bi morda vzeli taksi.

If you had prepared, you could have succeeded.
Če bi se pripravil, bi lahko uspel.

If you had listened, you should have understood everything.
Če bi poslušal, bi moral vse razumeti.
veznik unless = if not (v preteklosti)
We wouldn’t have gone unless it had been necessary.
Ne bi šli, če ne bi bilo nujno.
mešani pogojni stavki: pretekli pogoj + sedanji rezultat
If I had slept more, I would feel better now.
Če bi več spal, bi se zdaj počutil bolje.

Third Conditional Zanikanje

v if-dela stavka: Past Perfect + hadn’t + V3
If he hadn’t called, I wouldn’t have gone.
Če ne bi poklical, ne bi šla.
v glavnem delu: wouldn’t have + V3 ali zanikanje modalnega glagola
If it had rained, we wouldn’t have gone outside.
Če bi deževalo, ne bi šli ven.

If you had studied hard, you might not have failed.
Če bi se pridno učil, morda ne bi padel.

Third Conditional Vprašanja

Oblikujejo se kot običajna vprašanja z would + have, ostane pa odvisni stavek z if (Past Perfect).

Would + subject + have + V3 + if + Past Perfect?
Wh-word + would + subject + have + V3 + if + Past Perfect?

What would you have done if the app had crashed?
Kaj bi naredil, če bi se aplikacija sesula?

Where would you have gone if you had moved abroad?
Kam bi šel, če bi se preselil v tujino?

Who would you have invited if you had organized a party?
Koga bi povabil, če bi organiziral zabavo?

Why would she have been upset if you hadn’t written?
Zakaj bi bila vznemirjena, če ji ne bi pisal?

How would you have felt if you had lost your phone?
Kako bi se počutil, če bi izgubil svoj telefon?

Če bi bil včeraj prost dan, bi šli na podeželje.
